Back to School Music
Alright, so Summer 2008 is over (weh!) but, we’ve got some decent music to listen to. And when I say music, I’m talking about Metal music, of course, although I’ve been listening to 89.9 WUCF-FM – which is a Jazz station.
Anyhow, in general terms (and in my opinion) the Summer started Opeth’s “Watershed”. Great album, no doubt. Then, Soulfly deployed “Conquer”, another great album. Those were the two best metal album releases of the summer, if not of the year. ALSO, if you have a chance, listen to Kalashnikov, from Portugal. They call themselves a “War Metal” band, and it’s very funny stuff.
Next in line, the disappointments: Slipknot’s “All Hope is Gone” is very different than their other albums, I personally liked the first 3 songs of the album, then it got really sad and itchy. And finally, Metallica. Man, the new single is called “Weh weh, we’re old, forgot how to solo, cause I’m so rich, bitch.” Let’s hope the rest of the album (set to release in September) is at least better than Re-Load… But like good friend Lote usually says: “I’ve learned not to expect much from my favorite band or my favorite soccer club – Metallica and Benfica.”
Later, and happy return to School folks…
